DEPUTY CHARGED WITH MISCONDUCT

Sheriff Carter Weaver has announced the arrest and dismissal of a Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office deputy for engaging in sexual activity in his patrol vehicle with a woman he met through an online adult website.
Deputy Cody Christopher Bailey, 27, a five-year GCSO veteran, has been accused of committing an act of official misconduct while on duty in May 2024 in the Murrells Inlet area.
“The defendant failed a duty of good faith, due diligence and integrity owed the public,” according to an arrest warrant served today following an investigation by the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division.
Deputy Bailey was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.
