What time is the Georgetown Co. Sheriff’s Office open?

A sheriff’s deputy is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached by dialing 9-1-1 for an emergency or (843) 546-5102 for non-emergency assistance. Office hours at the Sheriff’s Office located at 430 North Fraser St. Georgetown are Monday through Friday from 8am until 5pm except for county holidays.

How can I get a copy of my incident report?

You can come to the Sheriff’s Office at 430 North Fraser St. Georgetown or call (843) 546-5102 to get a copy of your report. The copy of the report is free if requested within two weeks of the report date. After two weeks it will cost $3.00 (The Sheriff’s Office can only take exact cash for payment)

Does the Sheriff’s Office do finger prints for the public?

The Sheriff’s Office will do finger prints at the Sheriff’s Office located at 430 North Fraser St. during office hours. Please bring your finger print card with your ORI ID on the card and a valid pictured ID.

Can I get a background check done at the Sheriff’s Office?

The Sheriff’s Office will conduct a local background (sheriff records only) at the Sheriff’s Office located at 430 North Fraser St. during office hours. Please bring a valid pictured ID and the cost is $5.00 (The Sheriff’s Office can only take exact cash for payment).

Can the public use the Sheriff’s Office Fire arms range?

Yes the public is invited to use the firearms range as long as the range is not in use by law enforcement, reserved, and the user must have a valid permit issued by the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office. To receive a permit you must be a Georgetown County Resident (please bring a valid pictured ID and proof of your county residency), pass a background check, Pay a $50.00 fee every two years (The Sheriff’s Office can only take exact cash for payment), and be approved by the Sheriff’s Office Range Master. The permitted user can use the range at the following times Mon/Tue/Wed 3pm to dusk, Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday daylight to dusk.

To report a litter incident please contact the sheriff’s office at (843) 546-5101. The sheriff’s office has a litter crew the will pick up litter in public areas and conducts litter enforcement and investigations to litter law violations.

Does the Sheriff’s Office handle animal issues?

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Animal Control and Enforcement Unit enforces animal control laws in the unincorporated areas of Georgetown County. The Animal Control and Enforcement Unit handles call involving dogs, but does not handle call involving cats or wild animals. Animal control issues may be reported to the sheriff’s office at (843) 546-5101. Wildlife issues should be reported to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

How can I find out what an inmate’s charge is and what the bond amount is?

Go to the Inmate Search link on this website. You can search an inmate by Last Name, Arrest Date, or Release Date. Charges are not posted until warrants are served by the arresting agency. Bonds are not posted until the Bond Court submits the paperwork to the Booking Officer.

How does an inmate get previously prescribed medications or medical devices?

Medications or medical devices can be brought to the GCDC for an inmate at any time. The medication must be in the original prescription bottle. They are both then delivered to the Medical Dept. for proper dispensing and use.

When can I pick up Inmate Property?

Inmate Property can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00. You must have a picture ID matching the name on the Property Release Form filled out by the inmate.

How long do I have to pick up property of inmates who have been transferred to SCDC or to another facility?

Inmate Property is kept for 30 days. If it is not picked up by the designated person, it is destroyed after 30 days.

How can I communicate with an inmate in the GCDC?

Inmates can write you, and you can write them. See the Inmate Mail link for further information. Inmates can be visited. See the Visitation link for more information. Inmates, also, have access to phones during their recreation times several times a day. An account must be set up through Securus which is the company that handle our phone system. You can get more information on Securus accounts by visiting Securustech.net or by calling 800-844-6591.

How can I put money on an Inmate Deposit Account?

Money Orders or Cashier’s Checks can be mailed to the inmate with their name on the Money Order or Cashier’s Check. It cannot be processed without the proper inmate’s name. Also, at the GCDC there is a kiosk in the main lobby where any amount of cash money can be deposited into an inmate’s account, or a credit/debit card can be swiped to deposit funds up to $300 into an inmate’s account. A fee is charged for each transaction by the McDaniel Supply Company which services the kiosk system. You can, also, deposit funds with a credit/debit card for a fee through their website by visiting www.mcdanielsupplyco.net.
